Should I Call or Visit My Camper?
SUMMARY - Thoughts for parents about the best way to check up on their child during camp.

IMAGE CAPTION - There's always a way to get the message out.
Of course you can call your camper. But part of the magic of a great camp experience comes from the fact that we are a closed community. During their sessions our campers live their whole lives on this property, with these friends; they become completely immersed in the drama and story of camp. This is the most fundamental ingredient of a great camping adventure and this is the reason we strongly discourage our parents from calling or visiting their campers.

IMAGE CAPTION - Each day someone has a camera in hand to make sure special memories are preserved.
Instead, we work to create a one way mirror to allow you to see what is happening at camp without changing their camp experience. We do this by daily publishing hundreds of photos to our web site, as well as a newsletter. If you are still concerned you can also call your child’s counselor, or the Director. We will work very hard to let you know how your camper is doing but it is important that you understand that your camper can only have their best camp experience if their session is as uninterrupted as possible.
As I write this my own sons are preparing to come to camp. Soon the cliques at their school, their concerns about grades, and what their friends are doing will be far from their minds. They will again be replaced by their love for their tribes, the competition for the banner, singing in the dining hall, and their growth as paddlers, riders, and climbers. Even more, they will be replaced by a community of friends with whom they will share the deepest friendships and most exciting adventures of their life. This is exactly what we want for each of our campers and so your help with this is greatly appreciated.
