Closing days are always bittersweet here at Camp Timberlake. Today we said goodbye to an amazing group of 1A campers. It’s hard to believe that two weeks has already come and gone, but when we look back at everything we got to do together at camp, it’s hard to believe we were able to pack in so much fun!

From Tribapalooza to cabin camp outs, evening activities and daily skills, session 1A was full of friendship and adventure. This morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, breakfast potatoes and biscuits. We cheered and chanted as the Sultan of Fun announced the winner of last night’s big game of commando (the Seminoles!), and they headed out in front of the dining hall dressed in our Sunday best on this Saturday to take our camp photo. Before the parents began arriving to take us from our home away from home, we circled up as a camp one last time to put our arms around each other and sing our camp hymn together one last time. As the last line of “..We’re Timberlake one and all!” echoed across the lake, boys exchanged handshakes, high fives and hugs as we all promised to be back together again next summer.

Our full session four week campers were not going to let a day go by without having some serious fun, however. After enjoying an afternoon free swim filled with rope swinging and blobbing, our four week guys headed off to Craggy Gardens to take in one of the prettiest hikes and views in western North Carolina. They enjoyed dinner and sunset on the summit and topped off a great trip with some ice cold cheerwines.

Thank you to all our families for sharing your amazing sons with us this session. They are a great group of guys and we can’t wait for them to be back.

See you next summer!
