Hi, this is Joe Virgin and I like food so let’s start with what we ate today. We started the day with scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. For lunch we ate jambalaya with cornbread and fried okra. At dinner we ate fajitas with chips and rice, which happens to be my favorite dinner.

The cabins had an average day of cleaning. Huckleberry improved from yesterday’s score, but not by much, coming in with a 6.75.  Further Up got second for the third day in a row to Big Slaty. The road to the Golden Plunger and that epic pizza party is growing closer for some, and further away for others.

The first ever Pottery trip went out to Catawba falls, with 18 campers going. Daniel A. Andres D. Philip S. Enrique D. Spencer V.G. Brayden C. Nicholas O. Cole S. Connor B. Jack G. Tommy A. Geoffrey M. Ben L. Will M., and Michael A. all had a blast making pottery in the wilderness.

In classes today, Chase S. Got his silver in Archery and William I. and Vance M. got bronze in Riflery. Cooking learned how to make bruchetta. Climbing learned knots yesterday, but today they were able to put their skills to use and scale the climbing wall.

The evening activity tonight is cabin night, so the cabins will get to have fun and bond together. Greybeard is doing a cookie cookout. Big Slaty is having game night in the tuck. Little Slaty is having a luau then roasting s’mores. Stompers Knob is playing airsoft and roasting s’mores. Big Piney is building forts and roasting s’mores. Little Piney is having a luau. Further In is having a free swim and raiding the trading post. Further Up is playing glow in the dark dodgeball. Finches Landing is having a gaga ball tournament and playing with the puppies. Huckleberry is playing hide and seek in junior camp and roasting s’mores.

All around, today was a pretty great day for our campers! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for our campers tomorrow. I almost feel like things are going to be a bit backwards…but in the best way!

Stay tuned…
