It was yet another beautiful morning at Camp Timberlake as campers and staff alike woke refreshed from sleeping in an extra hour per Sunday tradition. Following a delicious breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bagels, our friendly neighborhood camp director, John, and one of our beloved program directors, Winston, performed a most glorious morning yell, sending our campers off to the races on their way to chapel. After campers were sent to “go clean those cabins!”, a very exciting day was yet to come.

Sunday tradition here at camp allows campers to pick and choose how they would like to spend their time with loads of activities unique to Sundays. Many of our boys find fort building, frog catching, sandcastle building, and puppy playtime amongst their favorites as well as free swim, Sunday at the Masters (camp wide disc golf), and gaga ball.

Outside of camp today, we had four incredible trips go out! On the water, we had Asher C, Graham F, Oliver H, Tyler J, Sam M, Kaden P, Luke S, Claude C, Richard R, David C, Thomas L, and Charlie S white water rafting; and kayaking was Woodson R, Oliver G, Teddy M, Radford W, Joe L, and Wilson F. Casting their luck today was Reynolds A, Benjamin C, William V, Freddy V, Oliver M, and Cole R fly fishing; and Andres D, Caleb D, Rees R, Ryland K, Richard B, Tristan W, Graham W, Ben A, Cole N, Colin C, John R, Theo T, and Beckett B disc-golfing.

Following a jam-packed morning and afternoon of super fun activities, our CITs (counselors in training) and gracious grill-master Caleb hosted a cookout for all of camp up at Spencer’s Green! It was the perfect spot to sit under a tree with your friends, grab a hot-dog/hamburger, and look out from the best view in camp; it was truly an incredible moment in our Sunday to soak in the beauty that is Camp Timberlake and our Creator’s creation surrounding us daily. Post dinner, everyone headed up to the chapel for vespers which included a performance from Marion’s very own Black Mountain Oysters!

As I type this article, the sounds of sparkling, bright fireworks are bursting outside as our campers are gathered to watch the surprise display. Tune in tomorrow night to hear all the exciting things we have planned for the last week of session 3A 2022!
